Who we are: We are a professional team of independent consultants who use a variety of skilled approaches to assess children, young people, adults and their families. We offer a range of single or integrated assessment packages. We work in partnership with other professional disciplines on a range of complex case situations that require specific assessments to be carried out by registered and qualified experts. We place a high value on safeguarding people's human and civil rights and maintaining confidentiality. IAS is based on a set of explicit standards and principles which underpins our practice. Consultants are supported and their accountability is maintained through close supervision. Our aim is to provide a safe, sustainable and ethical quality of service. What we do: IASUK is a specialist organisation offering independent expert assessments. We assess the needs of children, family units and adults including those with learning disabilities. The assessment time scales aim to minimize delay and provide for early decision making. Our aim is to produce each final report within weeks rather than within months of receipt of referral. We have a friendly and flexible approach when working with individual case situations. This empowers many individuals, parents and their children to begin to identify and understand their own strengths and weaknesses. The needs of children and vulnerable adults remain paramount throughout the assessment period. Where significant risks are determined or are seen to increase to become more harmful we work in partnership with appropriate adults and the local authority to establish an immediate plan for support and/or protection. Our assessments reflect the cultural diversity of the UK. Our packages can be integrated to include child/adolescent and/or adult psychiatric or psychological assessments. Our work is usually commissioned by local authorities, the family courts, residential care services and private health practitioners. However, we can consider requests from self-governing referrers. |
